Boys – aaaaah!!
Posted Sunday, June 19th, 2011
I love boys. I just can’t get enough of them. They are so droolsome (well, all right, not ALL of them, some of them are, like, minging) and I love that little flutter you get when you fancy someone. You know what I mean? It’s like the feeling you get when you’re on Oblivion at [...]

Watch Jo share the secrets in her Sweet Hearts notebook!

Hellooo! I’m Jo Cotterill and I write the Sweet Hearts books. How lucky does that make me?! No, seriously, when I was a lot younger, I used to have lots and lots of romantic daydreams. Horse-riding on the beach, sunsets, moonlight and music… all those slushy songs, I LOVED them! There was usually a boy involved in these dreams somewhere along the line too ;-)

And then I grew up and became far too sensible to be romantic any more. I thought about things like mortgages and gas bills. I enjoyed the various jobs I had (teacher, actor, musician) but I didn’t allow much time for dreaming. I’m not sure quite when things changed. I think it was when I started to write stories again. I found I wanted to write happy endings! Real life isn’t like the movies, we all know that… but it’s nice to dream, isn’t it? And there is romance all around us, all the time! In the amazing days we have with our friends, in sharing a secret smile with the boy across the class room, in that lovely feeling that comes over you when you’re out in the sunshine and everything is wonderful.

So that’s why I write Sweet Hearts. Because there’s a lot of misery and depressing stuff in the world, but what keeps us going, what gets us through the tough times, are the dreams of something better.

Sweet Hearts… real life, but with added dreams.
Lots of love, Jo x
