We have all heard the phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words”, while as a writer I value the written word more than a photograph which can now easily be manipulated by an amateur, I cannot deny the power of a photo. Each photo tells a story, from scandals to a portrait of a good family man, one can destroy and the other builds credibility. It is the duty of a photographer to bring an image to the writer, which strengthens his writing. Through the lens of a camera, the greatest atrocities and great good have been captured and immortalized, showing the readers an unbiased truth through an image.
Even before photography, illustrations were used to convey a deeper understanding and emotion of the story, which proves that in order to bring information to the public, one, must give them a portrait of the event, showing this is what happened and let the writer tell you more about it!
